Self-love/care: Discipline/ S.M.A.R.T. Goals (ep.5)

February 2021 means a new series! :) I'm talking about love, but I'm not looking at the material world. I'm looking in and seeing how we can all show ourselves a little more love and care. I'm starting with the more detached approach this week, and I think it's good for those that don't need or desire a spa day or a retreat. This week is the "practical episode."

I got five nuggets of wisdom that really resonated with me, and I elaborated on them before I offered my assistance on how to get more disciplined (S.M.A.R.T. goals).

1) "Discipline is rarely enjoyable but almost always profitable."-

Ironically, the thing that may cause us the most discomfort initially (discipline) may be exactly what gives us what we want in the future.

2) "Excellence is a journey. Discipline is the vehicle." -

This means that the goal of discipline is to make you the most optimal version of yourself.

3) "Discipline is choosing between what you want now and what you want most."-

I suggest a very sobering way to get clear on what you want most (listen to the episode), but this boils down to temporary comforts versus long-term priorities.

4) "Only the disciplined ones are free. If you are undisciplined, you are a slave to your moods. You are a slave to your moods."-

This may feel like you take one step forward and two steps back.

5) "Discipline yourself so others won't have to."-

We are very good at applying this philosophy to children, but we may fail at times to see this in our own lives.

There's so much more meat in this episode! I truly hope you take some time to listen in. In this new format, as I've mentioned before, each month will go like this:

  • Teaching (with a document to help you)

  • Mini-life coaching

  • Book review (with a study guide you can purchase)

  • Interview

Interviews will always be the longest episodes (obviously), and, as promised, this week I provided a handout to help you create disciplined, clear plans of action (look here). Next week, I talk about how to make time for little "treat yourself" days/moments.

  3. Tell your friends about this mission (a.k.a. share the content): it's a movement of empowerment and self-actualization. Wouldn't you want to share something that can positively change a life?

Thank you so much guys! I'm really working hard for your benefit! Hope you can see it!

Don't forget you can support me a little with a monthly donation!

P.S.- Don't forget you can purchase last month's study guide for only $4.99- it could lead to some radical inner work, and it further cements Mark Manson's ideas (from his book The Subtle Art of Not Giving A F*ck) into your life. Play last month's series back in its entirety if you need a mindset reset.
