I'm so excited to show you the power of the Courageous Explorer (Sydney Williams). She is the founder of Hiking My Feelings, and BTC is so lucky to have someone of her caliber on the show. All the episodes are SOOOO good, so it's really hard to say which is my favorite. I will tell you this though: this conversation has been the one that has given me the most goosebumps EVER in my life.
Those of you who have purchased and read Break Through Fear (my first book!<3) have read that it's important to fine-tune your ear. So many opinions and authorities try to dictate our lives, and Sydney's entire philosophy (from Hiking My Feelings) is rooted in two questions: 1) Does this feel good? 2) Will this make the world a better place? With those questions, all those competing voices are pacified, and your voice claims ownership of your own life. It's really hard to pick just a couple of takeaways because there's SO MUCH truth in this episode, but here we go:
Favorite Takeaways From This Episode:
Stop apologizing for your joy, creativity, and vision. Everyone wants something for you, but you have to undergo the long process of figuring out what you want versus what you inherited.
Clarity is key: the way to get clarity in your life is by exercising kind self-talk. Being kind and compassionate to yourself lets you show up for others in your life more profoundly. It has a ripple effect in your community as well.
What you have been exposed to (media, culture, upbringing, etc.) creates "your" reality. Be empathetic for "the" reality of someone else. By doing so, we can change the world.
Our stories are what move the needle of history forward. Talking about tough content liberates and activates others. We have the power to unlearn what we've been taught and create a healthier Earth.
What did you think?
How did you like this Kansas/Texas collaboration? You read about those people who leave their high-profile jobs, sell it all, and hop in a van to create their own destiny, but you RARELY get to hear someone explore that journey beyond a word count. I know I LOVED this episode, and I'm so glad that I followed up on this lead. I almost didn't because I was scared. However, I have to practice what I preach and #BreakThroughFear.
