I'm so excited to show you the spirit of the Rising Phoenix (Dean Furness). He has an AMAZING Ted Talk that really challenges your perspective on past obstacles, and BTC is so fortunate to keep securing guests with his level of resilience and optimism. I approached Dean because I felt his talk went with the BTC format pretty naturally.
Those of you who have purchased and read Break Through Fear (my first book!<3) have read that it's important to fine-tune your ear. Dean was able to enter new terrain (marathons) because he listened to the people who were speaking to him out of love. His life really started to accelerate once he fine-tuned his ear, drowned out his negativity, and embraced the positivity around him.The same thing can happen to you (if you're willing).
Favorite Takeaways From This Episode:
The word "average" has a bad rep. : Being called "average" and seeing your life experience as a cumulative "personal average" are totally different things. Your personal average is useful because it can be improved. Look at it as a noun rather than a verb.
Don't forget the small things (a hug). Those things matter.
A chip on your shoulder can be the fuel to your fire.
Focus on yourself, but be aware of your competition.
Pivot quickly when life changes: your life may change, but you are not defined by those changes. Use that energy in a new way.
Stop waiting for permission: the pandemic did not ask for permission to interrupt our lives, so don't wait for someone to tell you that you can change your life.
What did you think?
How did you like this Iowa/Texas collaboration? Personally, I liked how Dean said his past self wasn't too different from his current self: it made me see that you can keep your core but explore your essence in a new sphere without "losing" yourself. So much can happen when you #BreakThroughFear.
